Vol. 24, No.1Editor's Note When does a story finally get told? As far as we are concerned, the answer is never. What passes for narrative complete and unassailable turns out to be preface only, and the words keep flowing. One hundred and forty issues may be but a clearing of the throat, so to speak, before the real speech begins, but it feels very much like 25 years of deadlines, and "finds," and familiar voices. In all, our Adventure has the look and feel of a regional magazine that has managed to survive despite obstacles of various sorts ranging from mortifying typos to medical traumas. Here is a novel piece of advice: Wish us well, wish us very well, indeed. The best way to do that is to keep subscribing and advertising. If we all do our part there is no telling how many issues will one day comprise the complete set of the Adventure Shaped Like a Magazine, better known as Springhouse. |
